Nope, and it will likely never be an option.
To be fair, there aren't too many sites where you can change your username. And I don't think it's a feature is necessary here.

would create a new account but i have nearly 1k favourites to transfer and all of my saved searches

you could try importing all of your favorites to a pool on a new account. import only adds about 4 1/2 pages so you'd have to see the last post in the import queue and add the id to your search like "user:<username> id:<12345". you only have 1k to import, that's pretty manageable.
