Now Viewing: naruhodou_ryuuichiTag type: Character The spiky haired and blue suit wearing hero of the Gyakuten Saiban series. He is a young rookie defense attorney and a student of Ayasato Chihiro. He also forms a close relationship with Chihiro's younger sister Mayoi. Depending on one's perspective, he is either horribly unlucky or is blessed with miraculous luck; on one hand, he gets little respect from anyone and the witnesses and suspects he deals with are often uncooperative and the prosecutors he deals with in court are openly antagonistic towards him. In every case he takes on, the odds are always stacked against him and he often panics under the intense pressure he's under. On the other hand, he is good at improvising and somehow manages to win virtually every case he takes on despite the odds. He is a friendly and idealistic young man though he often makes smart ass remarks inside his mind. Nevertheless, he devotes all of his effort into helping his clients and friends. He has a complicated relationship with Mitsurugi Reiji who was his childhood friend and becomes his rival in the first Gyakuten Saiban game after having changed considerably as a person. However, Ryuichi is able to help Reiji deal with his personal issues and their relationship warms up in subsequent installments. Although they have different personalities and viewpoints, they have a deep respect for each other. Ryuuichi has a strong dislike of In Gyakuten Saiban 4, which takes place seven years after Gyakuten Saiban 3, Ryuuichi wears a beanie on his head and has grown a stubble. He has also become more manipulative, coming up with complex plans to nail culprits, perhaps due to his experience, but he is still benevolent and firmly pursues justice. He is also a supporting character albeit one with a large impact on the plot. He is set to return as the protagonist of Gyakuten Saiban 5 with a new female sidekick and also appears in the crossover game Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney and Marvel vs Capcom 3 in a cameo and as a playable character in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. He was originally intended to be in Tatsunoko vs Capcom alongside Karuma Mei. However, the developers ran into problems when it came to one of his attacks. They wanted him to use the objection speech bubble as one of his attacks. However, "objection!" in Japanese, "Igiari!" is shorter than the English word and accordingly, has a smaller speech bubble. This would have the side effect of making the English version of Ryuuichi overpowered so ultimately he was scrapped and would not make his fighting debut until Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. He is voiced by Takumi Shu (original games) Kondo Takayuki (commercials), Toriumi Kosuke (Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3). He is played by Narimiya Hiroki in the live action film. Narimiya also voices him in Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney. He is played by Ranju Tomu in the musical.
