Now Viewing: super_mario_3d_landTag type: Copyright A 3d Mario platformer released on the Nintendo 3DS in 2011. It is directed by Hayashida Koichi and produced by Koizumi Yoshiaki. Music is composed by Hayazaki Asuka, Yokota Mahito, Gohara Shigehito, and Hama Takeshi. Of all the 3D Mario platformers, this game is stylistically the closest to the 2D Super Mario Bros. games with more linear obstacle course style level design and a massive increase in bottomless pits. The game's aesthetic recalls Super Mario Bros. 3's style and the game uses a World Map and features Mushroom houses where the player can get some power ups like Super Mario Bros. 3. The game also brings back the Tanooki Suit and uses it as a motif. The game makes use of the 3DS's 3d capabilities and there are some sections of the game that play around with depth perception. After beating the final boss, the player unlocks eight new and much more challenging worlds. Like Super Mario Galaxy, Luigi is also an unlockable character. There is almost no text or dialogue in the game barring some short exclamations from Mario and co. Everything is expressed through visuals.
