Now Viewing: sylvester_stalloneTag type: Character Muscular dark haired Italian-American actor/writer/director born on July 6, 1946. He is the older brother of singer Frank Stallone who often provides songs for his movies. However, Sylvester is significantly more well known. He is most famous for his long-running Rocky and Rambo film franchises. Notably, both franchises were not originally intended to be as long-running as they ended up being. Stallone tended to make each installment as if it were the last and he would often tell the press that this installment would be the last one only for him to change his mind some years down the line. Rambo is particularly popular in Japan and directly inspired quite a few run and gun action games like Contra. Thanks to the success of the latter series, Sylvester Stallone became the most iconic Hollywood action star of the 1980s-1990s alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. Despite the enormous popularity and friendship the two shared they did not appear in a movie together until The Expendables. Stallone often alternates between playing underdog everyman heroes like Rocky or more no nonsense heroes like John Rambo. He writes the scripts for many of his films, including the Rocky, Rambo, and Expendables film franchises. Stallone also does a large chunk of his own stunts and keeps himself in shape so that he can do these roles even in his 60s. As a result he has acquired a few injuries while making his movies. He has a distinctive and somewhat inarticulate way of speaking. This is the result of a facial nerve injury he suffered when he was born.
