Now Viewing: among_usTag type: Copyright A competitive multiplayer deduction game developed by Innersoft. It was designed by Marcus Bromander who also handled the artwork alongside Amy Liu. The soundtrack was composed by Forest Willard. It was released on June 15, 2018. The game was inspired by the card game Mafia, and essentially works like a video game version of it. The game is set in a confined location with two factions: the Imposters and the Crewmates, which player is on which side is randomly decided by the game before a match starts. The Imposters' job is to use misdirection and their cunning to sabotage and kill off the Crewmates, until there's the same number of Crewmates as there are Imposters, without being discovered. The Crewmates must complete the various tasks of the arena and use their deductive abilities to uncover and remove the Imposters. This game is notable for being a late bloomer in terms of finding its audience. The game didn't receive much recognition until 2020 when various video game streamers discovered the game and started streaming it. This led to a massive influx of new fans and even inspired the creators to consider a sequel before scrapping the idea in favor of refining the original game. The game has no real characters in its cast, but can be recognized by its art style with characters that look like colorful miniature astronauts. Although it didn't coin the word, this game is notable for popularizing the slang term 'Sus,' short for suspicious, as players would often use the term when accusing another player.
