^^ Except there wasn't really a relationship to begin with. The two talked like 5/6 times in the whole manga, and fans and the anime blew it completely out of proportion.
I do wish Naruto would give her a follow-up though. Just having her smiling with a "..." bubble while Sakura intimately hugs him is hardly a fitting conclusion for such a popular pairing.
And @anon9: Give Sakura a little credit. She was already defending Naruto mid-way through Part I, and Yamato hinted that had feelings for him near the beginning of Part II. So not as early as Hinata, but still earlier than the Pein invasion.

Personally, I doubt Naruto will ever end up with either Sakura or Hinata. Sakura is still conflicted about Duckass Traitor Boy, and Hinata is a damn wallflower. Not to mention the mess Sakura made with her 'confession', and Hinata's inability to actually talk to Naruto about her confession...
