The original manga debuted on October 2003 and ended on Feburary 2008. The anime was adapted by J.C.Staff and directed by Kimura Shinichi and written by Yamada Yasunori. Characters were designed by Nakayama_Yumi. Music is composed by Nishida Masara. It has also been adapted into a light novel by Kai Tohru with illustrations by Kagesaki. Karin Maaka is an oddball. She is not like her peers in school because she is actually a vampire. At the same time, she is unlike her family and almost every other vampire because she functions better during the daytime and has an excess amount of blood. Instead of sucking blood out, she gives her blood to her victims. If she does not bite people, she will suffer explosive nosebleeds. Karin tries her best to keep her vampire status a secret from her peers but things grow more complicated once Usui Kenta transfers into her class and Karin finds herself having strange reactions in his presence. Karin's attempts to avoid him fail once Kenta is hired to work at the same restaurant she does and she is expected to guide him. Eventually, Kenta discovers Karin's secret, but this proves to be the start of their relationship once Kenta compassionately agrees to not tell anyone about Karin's secret. Karin and Kenta gradually develop romantic feelings for each other, but they are soon confronted with an uphill battle as many people disapprove of a relationship between a human and a vampire. . .
