It sounds like you've already tried all the troubleshooting steps we'd normally go through, so this sounds like a bug. I recommend putting a ticket in the trac so our developer can look into it. He doesn't check the forums, so he won't see it unless you post it there.

no clue where i should say it so this was the best place i could think of
this new function that, when you are uploading an image that is already here, this function which sends you immediately to the image instead of telling you after inputting all the tags, is an excellent idea!

Longshot request here but could an exception be made to the smallest image resolution so I can post the counter girls? I have the tags for each already done and I'd like to have them out for posterity.

This is one of the cases in which they should let you upload an upscaled picture.
The counter girls are pixel art, so it can be upscaled using nearest neighbor or integer upscaling while keeping the pixels intact.

Yeah I guess that's the best way to go about this. It still feels like a weird discrepancy to not be able to post official art so integral to the site's culture.

Can someone explain to me like I'm 5 how to use the API, what its used for/what it does, and why I should or need to use it over the regular version of the search? I may as well be reading Aramaic reading the howto:api page.

The API is a machine-readable version of the site's output. The only real reason to use it is if you're writing a program that needs to access the site. There's very little reason to use it to access the site manually.
