It's too late for you. I see you had posted many comments talking to characters and making up fake dialogue in violation of our commenting guidelines. Your score is below -200 so you are no longer allowed to contribute to Gelbooru. RIP.
Hi, I'm a new user trying to contribute to the site.
I just have 2 questions:
1. I've noticed images imported from danbooru have the tags "commentary" and "commentary_request" pertaining to danbooru's commentary box. What's the proper etiquette for handling this in gelbooru? Attaching the commentary and its translation as a comment, or just deleting those tags?
2. I'm trying to change an artist tag from general to artist type (for example "michia_(bourgognepony)" which is marked as general instead of artist), but I get a message saying I'm too inactive to do so. I'm guessing this means I'm supposed to contribute in other ways before being able to change tag types? If so what types of contributions would eventually allow me to make such changes? Or am I supposed to send a request for these cases? A slightly similar thing happens when I try to create a wiki definition for artists with their aliases and URLs, but instead of showing a message it just seems to reload the page and nothing happens. Does this mean I'm also too inactive to do this?
Adding useful, tasteful comments like that will raise your XP allowing you to contribute more. This was to help keep spammers/bots off our site.
You can request tag-type changes in forum #1706 until you are allowed to do it yourself. The wikis will have to wait unless a gardener is feeling helpful.
Hey, I just had a forum thread deleted where I was asking about the PM system. I am a little confused as to why that was, since there was no explanation given. So I guess I'll ask here instead. When I try to PM people, it leads to a page that says my account is too inactive to perform that action. But this doesn't make sense, since I use my account every day and have lots of faves/uploads. Can a mod assist me with this?

That's the only answer you're going to get. The limitations placed on the PM system were put there because of rampant spam, and after trying various other measures, it's the only thing we could do to prevent it. Explaining how to get around it could allow these spammers to automate it, which would completely defeat the purpose. Even most of site staff doesn't know how the system works under the hood.
Created an account specifically to add tags, managed to do it once, but now I get the "You can't perform this action" error with reasons "poor commenting" (?) and "nope" (???) Being unable to edit tags kind of ruins the whole point :|
I tried creating a forum post about this and got the "spam" reason, so idk where else to ask about this problem :/

That's not you. You got assigned someone else's ip address who was banned for spamming the site. If/when you get a new ip address this should go away.
This is more likely if you are using a VPN, tor or other such because people use those to abuse the site often enough that most of their ips are banned now.
