Actual reference is from Gundam Seed and Seed Destiny.
It is how the Destiny Gundam poses with the swords. Think the strike may have done it to but Destiny fr sure.

I think you mean it's how everyone in every anime poses with anything that might be somewhat sword shaped.

I've seen a picture that showed dozens of poses like this from various anime.
