^ Unfortunately, there's a possibility that Ellen may be "fired" (i.e. her presence in the New Horizon books be short-lived) due to the otaku popularity and the high amount of R34 she has sparked. It's a situation different from anime girls: the character has been created to be used in educational textbooks (and very popular ones, apparently almost half of Japanese middle schools uses New Horizon nowadays), and her association with, well, something so different may earn a big frown from parents and educators if it gets too out of hand.

On the other hand, if the Ellen fad passes quickly, nothing may happen. There's already a significant decrease in new art over the last days. There are also IPs that are immensely popular among children, like Pokemon, that get craploads of porn, yet no one thinks about retiring them because of that.
