In all my years on the internet, I've never seen that be the case. I've seen places where putting the description and your response in the same place is discouraged because there's a specific
format that's followed (e.g. /r/AskReddit), but never anywhere where that was considered poor etiquette.
In fact, in
most places in the internet, separating your comment like that is what's considered poor etiquette. This isn't something unique to Gelbooru; it's considered poor etiquette in almost all traditional forums unless there's something important and noteworthy where actually bumping the thread so it gets people's attention would be required. That's probably the type of thing you posted in the gardener's guild and the reason why you didn't get called out for it.
