When I did foreign exchange in Japan, one of my host families were big fans of the show Prison Break. Another one had a son who was a massive Star Wars otaku.
Western animation is decently popular there too. They even have the same stupid sub vs dub debates that we do except it's about shows like King of the Hill and Steven Universe, lol.
It's pretty safe to assume that shows and movies that are big over here also get plenty of exposure over there.
