I'm a bit "surprised" that there's no covering_penis tag and I do not intend to check any pictures to know wether that tag should be around or not.

In honesty, I wouldn't care less so basically I'm not surprised at all.

Also, I plan to make covering whatever wiki entries soon, sorry for any mistakes if there are any.

Well, here's a Top Tip from your buddy Internetlovemachine:

There should be a suggestive_imagery tag so we can better classify this type of hoodwinkery: http://proxy2974.my-addr.net/mya...&s=view&id=711282

my-hime issues

can someone run a bot over this? I read here many images (>2k images) are tagged with "mai_hime", "my-hime", "mai_otome", "my-otome" etc. which appears wrong to me:

First, "my-..." is the name for western releases. I don't know why the publishers chose it, probably because it sounds similar to the kanji's reading. The original name is "舞-HiME" and the kanji is transscribed as "mai". So the series should be tagged as "mai-hime" on gelbooru.

The second series is named "舞-乙HiME"/"Mai-Otome", and the OAVs "舞-乙HiME Zwei" and "舞-乙HiME 0 ~S.ifr~". So the tags should be "mai-otome", "mai-otome_zwei" and "mai-otome_0_~s.ifr~".

PS.: I hope this time it the right place?

Yes, this is the correct place.

Normally, I'd agree with you, but Danbooru seems to explicitly do it the other way. Our general policy is to follow their decisions.

It seems that the main reason that they chose to do so is because using the actual correct Japanese name, which is written 舞ー乙HiME, causes problems. Our standard policy, which is identical to Danbooru's, is to directly romanize the names from Japanese into English, rather than follow an official romanization. However, doing that yields "mai otoHiME", which is not the correct series title. The fact that they used romaji instead of kana or kanji for 姫 only makes it more obfuscated. Since we directly transliterate the Japanese, if it's already transliterated in the original Japanese text, it's forced to stay the same. Hence, "mai otohime" would be the result. But "otohime" is not the title of the series. The choices presented at this point are "mai-zhime", "mai-otome", and "mai-hime". "mai-zhime" automatically gets ruled out because it neither sounds like the correct title nor is z any sort of proper romanization of 乙. If our choices are between a completely butchered Japanese rendition of the name, or an actually correct and well-known official representation, the more correct one wins. Therefore, my-otome shall remain as the proper tag.
Even though 舞-HiME doesn't suffer the same problems, as its name just directly transliterates into mai-hime without butchering any of the official meaning, it is a related series to my-otome, so its tags will follow suit.

Ultimately, what all of this means is that unless you convince Danbooru to change it, it probably won't be changed here. However, I'd be happy to perform the mass tag edit to change them into mai-hime and mai-otome if you convince Danbooru to change their alias.

Tl;dr, the titles are all terrible puns, all of these suggestions are "right", but My is the official one, from Japan.
