How do I find Japanese Artists?
Posted on: 02/26/15 02:39PM

How come pictures have to be uploaded from Japanese Artists regardless of quality or content? :(

Well anyways, I want to know how I know for sure it's by a Japanese person.

I really want to post something, but this site already seems to have a lot on it, and whatever I find that doesn't seem to be posted can't be posted just because of this one rule.

Any help please? :(

To quote the Terms of Service:
Non-Japanese: Anything not drawn by a Japanese artist is not allowed unless given specific exception by the moderation team for quality! Photographs of cosplayers, figures, JAV models, or prominent figures in the industry are acceptable.

While artwork by non-Japanese artists is against the rules by default, it may be given exception and allowed on the site if it meets our quality requirements.

Since Gelbooru is a Japanese-themed site, the more Japan-related the artwork is, the better. Artwork based on Japanese copyrights that is drawn well in a style that isn't extremely western is very likely to receive an exception.

How Japanese-related does it have to be? Because I've noticed that all of the artwork done by artist Marthedog was deleted due to being non-japanese, and two of the artist's work that have been uploaded by two other users has been up for a while, till recently been removed. And the user mainly makes drawing of Japanese prominent figures. But artwork done by Palcomix/Bbmbbf is accepted?

The artwork must be both Japanese-themed and drawn in a style that is not particularly western. I have not seen Marthedog's artwork, but I'd assume that if his images based on Japanese copyrights were deleted, they were either poor quality or drawn in a distinctly western style.

All of the Palcomix artwork I'm seeing that has managed to remain on the site meets these criteria.

Remember that these exceptions are given on an image-by-image basis. Just because some of an artist's works are allowed does not mean that all of their artwork is allowed, and the inverse is true as well.

"It may be given exception"?

Now it's more like, it's an exception whenever you delete western art.
