I think it was Pokémon. I don't remember. It wasn't a bad game by any means. I just regretted returning a game I never even tried, but I was young and could not be blamed for it. Thanks for the encouragement, though. Really brightens my spirit during the gloomy fall. :)

That just got me thinking about old games that came out I never tried, never got a chance as a kid, so I've been meaning to try them out via various means like emulation and such. It pretty amazing we have this capability, old systems, completely different architectures and designs, most of them pretty well emulated and much of their software collected and archived by enthusiasts and shared with the whole world for free. What an amazing time to live in.

Emulation is quite the thing. Even fairly recent games like Breath of the Wild currently run very well on emulators without requiring expensive hardware.
