when theres a common enemy like say tyrinids or chaos. Havent you ever heard of the saying? The enemy of my enemy is still my enemy. But they maybe useful for now?

If any of you have played winter assult you would know that "Only fools belive that the enemy of my enemy is my friend". Still, the Tau and Ultramarines have once called a truce before when facing the dirty heretics!.. Think it was 40k: Fire Warrior.

Well, the Imperium during the last Black Crusade called a truce with the Eldars to defeat Chaos and Orks, and even they left the Necrons to fight the Tyranids

The Tau and Space Marines have fought together in the canon books.
They were once fighting in a Tomb World without knowing it, and their battle awakened the Necrons sleeping there. From there on, they joined forces to push back the Necrons and resume their fight another day.
