Itachi did a lot of horrible things that, at least in my mind, disqualifies him as being "good" no matter what his intentions may have been. Just my two cents.

Basically, being an Uchiha means you're either going to go nuts with power/killed by another Uchiha for your Sharingan/suicide/killed *just because*/killed because you were too good.
