If you think he's so dense then May is leading him on, like a mother with a child. Iris in the far back and dawn as well. The Pokemon are removed from the equation leaving only two. May or Misty, who to pick? Who is best? May is more girly but strong as well. Misty is a tomboy but think, she was with him at the start, she helped him mature and grow. Helped him get through hard times and that bickering was that of children not hate. I'm a fan of Misty AND May but I want to make both decisions clear (Ash at least look to your right...).

Also, Anon 1190537, Kasumi was with him the longest. If I remember correctly, the directors (Kunihiko Yuyama or Masamitsu Hidaka), Satoshi saw Kasumi as a sister-eque.

I don't think any of the other girls he has been traveling with ever got that close.

TO BE FAIR, no female traveling companion has ever expressed without-a-doubt romantic interest in him other than Kasumi/Misty.

Anything else is just people being stupid. Not referring to shippers, but people who are like "hurrrrr, ash is so dumb all these girls traveling with him OBVIOUSLY WANTS HIS DICK but he's too dense to notice they luuuurve him." It's like any female comrade HAS TO BE romantically interested in him.

Just watch after he nearly drowned in "The power of One", Misty clearly stated it.
Well, not directly to Ash, but towards the other Girl.

Also, when it was time to part, she was upset, that he didn't try anything to Keep her(clearly because she loves him, but he's just not old enough to understand it).

Coming to think about it, Ash has the PeterPan-Syndrome, shown on the first Episodes of the first Black&White-Season: It was stated that he's still 10 Years old, wich was kinda shocking to me'cause he was just through too many Adventures and lived through too many Days within the Show and it's Movies, so that he should be at least 2-4 Years older than in the beginning of the Show.
