Maybe I'm reading too much into it but Gamera and Iris' magatamas could almost be seen as yin & yang of each other, because both of them had the same creators the monsters could even be the Ying and Yang to each other. Gamera's magatama could be representative of the way the jet fire curves almost into a comma shape when he is in saucer mode of flight and the magatama for Iris is more sharp looking, probably representative of his many blades that also curve like a comma.
