The device in the camouflaged soldier's hands seems to be a Type 4 70mm anti-tank rocket launcher, the Japanese competitor to the American Bazooka and German Panzerschreck... Probably only ever issued to troops on the home islands. Could've proven pretty damn effective... Of course, it could be a Type 5 or one of the other models, any of which were only ever produced in small numbers, if at all, considering lack of resources...

If u watch those jap mecha anime such as the GUNDAM series, u would realize how obsessed they are with the notion that one or few prototypes f**king a bunch of mass production models.
