Idk......I've always been a fan of consensual yuri so this bugs me a bit. They can try to justify it with the mana thing but when it comes to anime just about every act of sexual assault is justified in some way which leaves a rather sour taste in my mouth (just look at Daimidaler where the pilot has to molest his co-pilot in order to make the mech work lol).

Technically mana could be sent through any form of body fluids. Look at why Akiha was sucking Kohaku's blood for example, and of course there's what Rider did to Shirou in HF, also sucking blood.

Kissing may just be less effective compared to sex I guess.
