No, Neji died:
1.He was protecting Naruto too, so even if Hinata wouldn't be there, he could die!
2.Tite Kubo killed Yamamoto and Kira from Bleach not long before "Neji's death", and since nobody important died in Kishi's baby war, he had to sacrifice someone. Neji had bad luck.

Oh, and still better when Sakura "killed" Chiyo by forcing Chiyo to resurrect/revive/save her with the same technique she used on Gaara later, due thanks to Sakura, Chiyo didn't had enough chakra anymore. Bullcrap? Of course, just like "Hinata killed Neji".
