Yeah, Naruto was shorter than most or all of the Rookie Nine last I checked (which was at the end of Shippuden, so really old info). You could say it's because he didn't eat well when he was younger plus you never know what kind of weird effects the Nine-Tails Fox had on his anatomy (such as the whisker marks).

Yep like alot of people stated here. Naruto was one of, if not, the shortest out of his age group, to the point the even Sakura was taller than him. Its also safe to assume that Hinata was taller than him as well. Also girls are taller than boys and their growth sputs early on. You also have to remember that Naruto's dietly motly consisted of Ramen lol. Ramen couldnt stop puberty and his Uzumaki lifeforce/genes so he eventually outgrew most of his teammates(srs hes huge in 700, hes even taller than Shikamru).
