I still don't get this whole, super connection Ash has with his Greninja that let's it transform into a mode change or something. It just doesn't make sense... especially considering the practical sibling relationship he has with his Pikachu?

My bet says it's Mega Greninja. Gamefreak probably named it Ash's Greninja to hide details of the upcoming game.

Well, it's obvious that this form is equal, if not superior to Mega-evolved Pokémon. Considering that Alain will probable work with Team Flare and that Lysandre has at least one Mega of his own, they'll need it...
