I thought Zero was based off Bass/Forte more than Proto/Blues. Not that it really maters. Picture is still awesome.

As far as the games releases, Zero came before Bass, and played a similar role as Protoman did.

Zero is similar to Bass in that they were both made by Dr. Wily... Megaman Command Mission REALLY played up the similarity with Zero's Absolute Zero transformation.
