Oddly enough, Halloween only recently came to Britain in full force (2009ish). They even had to release pamphlets about "Trick or Treat Etiquette."

If I'm not mistaken, Halloween evolved in Europe (France, Spain) but trick-or-treat came about in the US. The idea seems to have spread a lot lately. There was even an episode of Hamtarou that featured trick-or-treat more than 10 years ago.
