We may not have a gen 4 remake, but these two look stylish as hell. Also, should we label them as fe/male protagonists of the original SM or are we just gonna label them as the Ultra SM protagonists?

Not sure how the tagging will work on this. Every other third version protagonist, like Emerald Brendan and Platinum Lucas, shared their tags with the original design.
But at the same time, they look too different. So maybe they'll get new tags, like ORAS Brendan and May did.

For now, tagging them as the male and female protagonists of Ultra SM would be suitable. For now, we don't know if the story will be approached the way the other third version games did (with the same characters), or the way B2W2 handled the story (with new protags).

Ultra SM repeats the story by reusing most of SM's stuff and with some changes. As happened in Pokémon B2W2 (Black 2 and White 2) with Pokémon BW (Black and White). *SICK Alola Region be repeated again*

^Lol did you really played B2W2 before? It's a direct sequel to BW instead of just rehashing the same story with little alteration and adding some few more elements.

Game Freak has been doing that rehashing stuffs since Gen 1 and B2W2 was actually the first direct sequel rather than "enhancing" the games.

It was also said that Ultra SM will be an alternate story. Not exactly sure what Masuda meant by that and we need more details about it. Don't come to an immediate conclusion with just one trailer.
