Is that even a prominent part of the game though? I'm sure you can play ARMS and still miss some of the lore, as with most fighting games.

Anon 1 - Incorrect. In the lore, the mask is the only way to keep them coiled or uncoiled AT WILL. Without the mask, someone with the ARMS ability cannot control when their arms extend and retract, instead being totally random - it's entirely false that the mask is what allows the arms to do that at all. So in theory, this could be a well-timed arm mishap.
