know what would be awesome? if the guys who developed the final fantasy series did a mash-up of studio Ghibli movies in an rpg, not like kingdom hearts but more like that epic Micky game, but you can have different people in your party with various powers like walking on birds or commanding nature =p

Well, not to stifle your flare, but what if when Square Enix FINALLY gets around to making Kingdom Hearts 3, why not just combine the three, the Final Fantasy universe with Disney, and then with Studio Ghibli. That way, the fans of the old series aren't alienated, and there's more possibility to attract new fans as well. everybody wins.
