Now Viewing: hagikaze_(kantai_collection)Tag type: Character 萩風 ("Clover Wind") Hagikaze is the personification of the 17th of the 19 Kagerou_(Kantai_Collection)-class destroyers in the game Kantai_Collection. Her name literally means "Clover Wind". Hagikaze has a cheerful, eager, but feminine personality. She notably has an aversion to night – especially night battles – however, due to her historical sinking in a disastrous night ambush. She has yellow_eyes and long_hair purple_hair with an ahoge. Her hair is tied into a side_ponytail similar to Kaga_(Kantai_Collection)'s, continuing a Kantai Collection trend of matching a few traits from escort ships to the ships they escorted. (Other commentators note a distinct likeness to Shimamura_Uzuki of iDOLMASTER_Cinderella_Girls.) Hagikaze wears clothing similar to other Kagerou-class destroyers, including a white blouse with a black vest, and a red neck_ribbon. She also wears a black pleated_skirt, white gloves, black_legwear thighhighs, and loafers. (Increasingly less) uncommonly for a destroyer, she also has breasts and can be seen to wear a purple bra when damaged. Her her combat gear (machinery) includes a twin-cannon turret held with two handles on the sides and a purse-like strap, with a backpack-like mount for a smokestack that carries swing-arms for more turrets. On her thighs, she has additional anti-air guns strapped in garter belt-like arrangements. The historical IJN Hagikaze was the escort of the IJN Kaga during the ill-fated Battle of Midway, and both rescued survivors and ultimately scuttled the carrier. She later went on to be sunk during the humiliating Battle of Vella Gulf [1], where American radar (and the Japanese lack thereof) resulted in a night battle where American forces achieved total surprise and were never struck by a single round of enemy fire. She sank alongside Kawakaze_(Kantai_Collection) and her sister-ship Arashi_(Kantai_Collection), while Shigure_(Kantai_Collection) escaped.
