She debuted in the Yellow Trailer of the series and is one of Junior's henchwomen. She fights by using ballerina-esque movements and extensive kicks. Her complex and quick legwork makes extensive use of feints, but Yang proves to be a better fighter in her trailer and finds a way to bypass figuring out from which direction Melanie will kick from. Her design is based off an early concept art for Weiss. Monty's decision to put twin sisters within RWBY's cast was inspired by a friend's desire to cosplay as a set of twins.
