It is the main opponent Team RWBY faces during their training at the forests around Beacon Academy. Its presence is hinted at a few episodes prior to its appearance. It is one of the more powerful opponents Team RWBY has had to face, being able to endure virtually every attack the characters throw at it as well as smash through stone walls unharmed. It can also launch its feathers like spears. It takes Ruby, Yang, Weiss, and Blake to work together in order to defeat the bird. The battle is the first time the girls have all worked together and their defeat of the bird shows everyone at Beacon that they can be an effective team.
