Now Viewing: penny_(rwby)Tag type: Character An orange haired teen girl with freckles on her face and wears a hair bow on her head. She is one of the supporting characters of RWBY. She is an eccentric teen girl who Team RWBY literally bump into while in the city of Vytal. She is planning to participate in the Vytal Festival tournament. She has an unusual way of speaking and emoting. Her speech has quite a few odd pauses and she seems to over-emote and over-emphasize certain words. She is also preoccupied with the idea of friendship and excitedly asks if Ruby is her friend when Ruby off-handedly tells her, "Take care, friend" as Team RWBY prepares to leave. Her behavior is so strange that Ruby's teammates try to tell Ruby to avoid her and not accept Penny as a friend but Ruby ultimately accepts. Penny latches onto Ruby and considers Ruby her 'friend.' She is very curious and often asks Ruby all sorts of questions. She is also extremely quick and has a knack for suddenly appearing before others, surprising them. Despite her strange behavior, she is a nice and well meaning girl. She is actually a robot and has lived a secluded lifestyle which is why she has an unnatural way of communicating. She can summon blades attached to strings from her back. She has superhuman strength and stamina and can use the blades to pull down giant airships as well as slice them in half. Furthermore, she is capable of firing giant laser beams. In-universe, she is unique and innovative for being the first robot who can access the apparently human-only ability, Aura. Team RWBY ran into Penny after she ran off from her caretakers. Her fighting style is based off of Nu-13 from Blazblue. It is also based off of Namine's fighting style in Monty Oum's Dead Fantasy. Her character is based off of Pinocchio. Like Pinocchio, she has a quirk that gives her away when she's lying. In her case, she hiccups. She is voiced by Taylor Pelto who is also the art director for the first season of the series and a 3D environmental artist for the series.
