Now Viewing: albinoTag type: General Albinism is a congenital condition characterized in humans by the partial or complete absence of pigment in the skin, hair and eyes. The public perception of what albinism looks like is perfectly white skin, white hair and red eyes. This is a misconception. Albinism does not typically present itself this way. People with albinism more commonly have blue, hazel or even brown eyes. (Source: www.albinism.org/information-bulletin-what-is-albinism/). Keep this in mind when using this tag. An otherwise white haired, and highly unpigmented complexion with blue/hazel/brown eyes can still be tagged albino. Hair can also appear yellow or blond, not completely white. Tags are used to describe what you see, so if a character exhibits these traits in combination, concider using the albino tag. Albinism occurs in animals and in humans. So, this tag also pertains to animals with albinism. Please look up references as to how different animals with albinism look before using the tag, as it can differ in species.
