Now Viewing: fujiwara_keijiTag type: Character 藤原 啓治 A male seiyuu who lived from October 5, 1964 to April 12, 2020. He was born in Tokyo, but mostly grew up in Iwate Prefecture. He moved back to Tokyo when he was 18 and started studying acting, joining the Bungakazu acting school and joining in theater troupes. After acting in theater for some time, he made the transition to voice acting in the early 1990s, when he was introduced to Ken Production. He made his debut with the 1991 anime Yokoyama_Mitsuteru_Sangokushi as Zhang_Fei and had his breakout role a year later as Nohara_Hiroshi in Crayon_Shin-chan. Fujiwara often played adult male characters and some of his more famous roles included Axel from the Kingdom_Hearts series, Maes_Hughes from the 2003 version of Fullmetal_Alchemist and Ali_Al-Saachez from Moblie_suit_gundam_00. He stayed with Ken Production until 2006, when he left the agency to found his own acting agency, Air Agency. Besides his acting career, he was a lecturer at Japan Newart College since 2008. In August 2016, Fujiwara began suffering health problems that forced him to take a hiatus from work, which forced studios to briefly recast some of his ongoing roles. He returned to acting in June 2017, but passed away almost three years later, with his final role being playing Reno one last time for the first episode of the Final_Fantasy_VII_Remake. After his tragic passing, it was publicly revealed that he had been suffering from cancer for the past few years.
