He was a programmer at Nintendo and became the fourth President and CEO of Nintendo on May 2002 and held the position for the rest of his life. He also became the CEO of Nintendo of America on April 4, 2013. He was born on December 6, 1959. His health began declining during 2014 preventing him from attending E3 of said year and he eventually passed away due to suffering a bile duct tumor on July 11, 2015. He began his career working as a programmer at Hal Laboratories and was often praised as being especially good at it. He worked on the game Mother 2 and the Kirby series. He became the president of Hal Laboratories on 1993 and eventually ascended to becoming the CEO of Nintendo. As a way of promoting upcoming Nintendo games, he often conducted Iwata Asks interviews where he interviewed the developers of a game. These interviews have also been translated into English and are available to the general public. He has also made a cameo in the game Warioware: Smooth Moves.
