An anime TV series adaptation animated by Madhouse and directed by Ishizuka Atsuko aired from April 9, 2014 to June 24, 2014. The anime's electronic soundtrack is composed by video game composers Hosoe Shinji, Saso Ayako, and Eguchi Takahiro. A user who goes by the name 『 』, referred to as blank, is making waves around the Internet. Blank's skill at gaming is unparalleled and no player or developer trickery can stop blank from dominating every game blank is involved with. People are curious as to who this superhumanly skilled gamer is and wild rumors begin spreading about Blank's true nature. The reality is less glamorous than the rumors about Blank; Blank is, in fact, two people: step brother and sister Sora and Shiro. The step-siblings, deeply unsatisfied with life in the real world, have shut themselves off from the rest of society and have dedicated their lives to gaming with only occasional 'breaks' to eat and sleep, both of which they barely do. Their accomplishments as gamers catch the attention of Tet, the god of the fantasy world Disworld. Tet contacts them via an mysterious e-mail that segues into a chess game. After the siblings win the match and impress Tet; Tet brings them into Disworld. Disworld is a world where all conflicts are resolved through games, a rule established by Tet who is the god of the world. Before Tet became the True God of the World, Disworld's races and gods constantly engaged in violent armed conflict. Tet became the God of the World solely because he ended up the sole surviving God due to his refusal to participate in the war. Tet's new rules have put an end to all wars. However, conflicts and disparities still remain between the races. Humanity is at a severe disadvantage, being unable to win the games that they have to play with other races because they have no magical abilities to help them. Because of their constant losses, their status and territory has drastically been reduced. Soon after Sora and Shiro arrive and learn of this, they quickly become the leaders of humanity thanks to their superb gaming skills. Sora and Shiro have no desire to return to the real world and decide to make the best of their new situation. Upon becoming the leader of humanity, Sora sets his sights on conquering the rest of the world with his gaming skills and take on god.
