The top has a standing collar buttoning down from top-to-bottom. Pants are straight leg and a black or dark-colored belt is worn with them. Even longer gakuran are called youran (洋ラン). It is common for youran to have long jackets, high collars, plus side/back slits, satin embroidery on the inside and/or with clothes_writing (similar to tokkoufuku). There are also gakuran with shorter jackets than regular gakuran.
