Now Viewing: kawakaze_(kantai_collection)Tag type: Character 江風 (River Wind) Kawakaze is the personification of the ninth of the ten Shiratsuyu-class (Shiratsuyu_(Kantai_Collection)) destroyers in Kantai_Collection. Kawakaze has a fiery "delinquent girl"/sukeban personality. Kawakaze has blue_eyes and very_long_hair red hair tied into low_twintails with red hair_ribbons, wears a white hairband, has very long payot, a long ahoge, and has asymmetrical_bangs. Her clothing has a distinct black and white contrast with blue trimming, with a white-and-black collared_shirt sleeveless_shirt half-opened to reveal her navel, blue neckerchief, black_gloves fingerless_gloves elbow_gloves, a black_skirt pleated_skirt held by a thick white belt, black_legwear thighhighs, and loafers. She shares many of these characteristics with her sister-ship Umikaze_(Kantai_Collection). Her combat gear (machinery) is unusually painted all black, with a hand-carried, twin-turret cannon in her left hand, a smokestack and antenna mast carried like a backpack, and twin torpedo turrets on machine arms from the smokestack. The historical ship was built as part of the Circle Two Program, and was originally part of Destroyer Division 24 along with her sister ships Yamakaze]] (not implemented), Umikaze_(Kantai_Collection), and Suzukaze_(Kantai_Collection). She had a more eventful campaign than most Japanese destroyers, and assisted in the sinking of the USS Pope, HMS Exeter, and HMS Encounter in the Battle of Java Sea, and rescued 35 survivors. She participated heavily in the Guadalcanal Campaign, sinking the USS Blue, ran several Tokyo Express missions, and in the First Battle of Guadalcanal rescued 550 survivors of the sunken transport ship Brisbane Maru. After colliding with the transport Toun Maru, she was forced to be towed out of the Guadalcanal area by the Kuroshio_(Kantai_Collection). After repairs, she was finally sunk on the 7th of August, 1943 in the Battle of Vella Gulf [1] alongside Arashi_(Kantai_Collection) and Hagikaze_(Kantai_Collection) by combined cannon and torpedo fire from the destroyers USS Dunlap, USS Craven, and USS Maury. 169 men, including her captain, were lost.
