The title translates to The Hunger of the Miyakawa Family and as the title indicates, the Miyakawa household, consisting of sisters Miyakawa Hinata and Hikage, is financially struggling. The series follows the daily lives of the sisters who are opposite in temperament. Hinata is an elementary school girl who is constantly fretting over their lack of money and pines for a more comfortable life. Adult sister Hikage is a cheerful and laid-back working woman who has a bad habit of spending most of her income on anime/manga/video games. Unlike the series it spun off from, Miyakawa-ke's episodes are short with a general run time of five minutes.
