Now Viewing: sun_wukong_(rwby)Tag type: Character Tag refers to the RWBY character. He is named after and based off of the iconic Journey to the West character. He is a blonde teen boy who wears a jacket but with no shirt underneath, exposing his abs, something that Monty wanted his fellow character designers and animators to emphasize. He is a monkey Faunus and has many mannerisms evocative of stereotypes of monkeys. He is very acrobatic, mischievous, and loves eating bananas. He is quite fond of stealing to get what he wants, however, he does not mean anyone any harm and strongly dislikes the violent methods the White Fang uses as he believes that they give Faunus a bad name. He takes an interest in Blake Belladonna recognizing that she's a Faunus and tries to pursue her. She is hesitant at first, but she gradually reciprocates his affection. He uses an extendable staff, much like the character he is based off of, which can transform into shotgun nunchaku that fires bullets at the same time he is swinging the weapon around. He also has a team of his own, who are introduced in the second season of RWBY. Series creator Monty Oum's love of Korean pop music was a major influence on the designs of Sun's team whose members' designs are based off of real life Korean male singers. He is voiced by Michael Jones, who is known for his comedic video game play-throughs. This is the first voice acting role of his with extensive dialogue (his previous minor role in Red vs. Blue had no actual dialogue) Michael would go on to do anime dubbing and he was cast as the English voice for Fairy Tail's Sting Eucliffe. His theme song is Not Fall in Love With You, composed and performed by Jeff Williams, which is about Sun's feelings towards Blake.
