Now Viewing: harada_katsuhiroTag type: Character 原田 勝弘 Tag refers to the video game director/producer and Namco employee. He was born in Osaka, Japan on June 10, 1970. He is a bearded Japanese man with black hair and who is almost always seen with glasses or sunglasses on. He is most well known for his work on the popular 3D fighting game franchise, Tekken and has been involved with the franchise since its inception. However, he didn't have a prominent creative role with the series until Tekken 3, which he directed. He directed the next three games in the franchise before becoming its main producer. He also practices martial arts, studying Judo, Karate, and some Taekwondo, all of which are featured in Tekken. Besides acting as director and producer, he has also made appearances in Namco games. Prior to Tekken 4, he was the voice of Marshall and Forest Law. He is a playable character in Soul Calibur V and makes a cameo in Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Out of all the Tekken characters, his favorite character is Mishima Heihachi, though he occasionally will give a sympathy vote to Ganryu as a reference to how Ganryu is the least popular character in the franchise. In his public appearances, he is known for having tongue-in-cheek rivalries with fellow fighting game developers. When Dead or Alive creator Itagaki Tomonobu, who went to Waseda University like Harada did, was part of Tecmo Koei, Itagaki would often trash talk Tekken in interviews. Despite all the insults directed towards Tekken, Harada admitted that he missed Itagaki's trash talk after Itagaki left the company. In Capcom and Namco related public appearances, Harada and Capcom producer Ono Yoshinori humorously present themselves as 'bitter rivals' as a way to promote their games. He is also a major fan of fellow Namco franchise, Idolmaster, with his favorite character being Minase Iori. Outside of video games, he started a Youtube channel called Harada's Bar on March 12, 2021, which takes place in a bar hosted by Harada himself. As he serves drinks and food, he chats with his customers who consist of various fellow game developers.
