Now Viewing: qilin_(mythology)Tag type: General 麒麟 Chinese pronunciation: Qílín, Qi-Lin or Ch'i-lin Japanese/Korean pronunciation: kirin An unicorn-like auspicious creature in Chinese mythology. The Korean and Japanese use the term "kirin" for a giraffe. Kirin Brewery (Kirin_(company)) uses this creature for the company name and logo illustration. (Some of Kirin's soft drinks don't use this logo, though.) Both Qilin and Kirin appear in Final_Fantasy_XI. But their shapes are far different from the original folklore. In Monster_Hunter there is an unicorn-like creature called Kirin_(Monster_Hunter), from parts of which a kirin_(armor) can be made. Kirin_(Nijiura_Maids) is named after Qilin and looks like a personification of it.
