Now Viewing: matsu_(kantai_collection)Tag type: Character 松(艦隊これくしょん) / 松(艦これ) / 松 Kantai_Collection character personifying (personification) the nameship of the Matsu-class destroyers of the Imperial Japanese Navy, which were subdivided to the Matsu and Tachibana subclasses, which numbered 18 and 14 completed ships respectively. Her name means "pine." Her illustrator is Watanabe_Akio, who is best known for his work in Popotan and the Monogatari_(series). Matsu has long (long_hair) green_hair, which is draped over her left shoulder (hair_over_shoulder) with antenna_hair and green_eyes. She wears a serafuku composed of a khaki sailor_shirt with a grey sailor collar (grey_sailor_collar) and black corset (with an anchor zipper_pull_tab), a grey pleated skirt (grey_skirt), and black-toned pantyhose (black_legwear) as well as black_gloves, a single_knee_pad over her left knee, and a black choker. Her machinery consists of a handheld adapted_turret, a torpedo_launcher beside her right leg, as well as a smokestack and several other items behind her back. Remarkable for Matsu is her damaged CG which is reminiscent of the infamous Myoukou_pose – said CG shows her in the process of sustaining damage, disintegration of her machiney and clothing, and feeling the brunt of said damage as if hurting. The historical destroyer had a very short career; she was sunk during her first and only battle, three months after she was completed, by the combined firepower from three Fletcher-class destroyers (USS Cogswell, Ingersoll , and Knapp) on August 4, 1944, her own firepower being no match to those of the other side. This was after completing a convoy mission to Chichijima and en route back; her convoy was spotted by planes belonging to the US Navy's Task Group 58.1, resulting in an airstrike and subsequent face-off between destroyers.
