It is a spiritual successor to the Gyakuten Saiban franchise and like those games, Ghost Trick combines mystery and comedy. Since the game has a lot of plot twists, people who prefer to be unspoiled should be aware that many images underneath this tag may have spoilers. You play as Sissel who has recently deceased and is now a ghost. As soon as he wakes up, he sees an assassin killing female police officer Lynne. Sissel is shocked upon seeing this and feels a desire to help her. He is soon informed by a possessed lamp named Ray that he has the power to manipulate objects and rewind time, which he uses to rescue Lynne. Sissel is informed by Ray that his soul will cease to exist by dawn. Sissel remembers nothing of his life when he was alive and wants to figure out who he was but at the same time, he feels a desire to help Lynne resolve a big case she is investigating, and he believes that she may have a clue as to who he was. Sissel teams up with Lynne to solve the case and discover his past before dawn. The gameplay revolves around Sissel's ability to manipulate objects and time to solve puzzles. The game also features detailed and often humorous character animation.
