Many years before the story begins, a tribe of super powerful and intelligent beings known as the Golden Tribe calls for other tribes in the galaxy to join them. The Heroic Tribe (a race of godlike monsters), the Silver Tribe, the Bronze Tribe, and eventually the Iron Tribe (humanity) answered the call. The Heroic Tribe destroyed themselves leaving only five survivors who the Golden Tribe transplanted into various other beings and the Silver Tribe conquered the Bronze Tribe and is studying the teachings of the Golden Tribe.
When the story begins, the Golden Tribe has left the other tribes to venture into another universe for unknown reasons. The remaining tribes try to decipher the teachings and motives of the Golden Tribe. Humanity is embroiled into a long war with two other species/tribes, the Silver and Bronze Tribes. The former is determined to eliminate humanity, and has managed to destroy kick humanity out of Earth leaving the humanity to desperately search for a new home while struggling to survive against the Silver Tribe's forces. Things are looking grim for humanity until Princess Dhianeila and her crew discover a young man named Age on an abandoned planet. This boy has the ability to transform into Bellcross, one of the few surviving Heroic Tribe members. With Age/Bellcross's powers, humanity begins to turn the tide of war, but the Silver Tribe also has the remaining four surviving Heroic Tribe members on their side. The war between the two tribes escalates as humanity tries to find a new home and decipher the Golden Tribe's motives.
The series makes extensive use of CG in its numerous large scale battle scenes which involve battleships, mecha, and the godlike members of the Heroic Tribe who resemble a cross between monsters and mecha. The series is also influenced by Greek mythology and many of the characters' names are references to it.
