The character is designed by Stan Winston and is one of his most famous creations. The name Predator refers to the entire species. Predators are tall bipedal humanoid shaped aliens who wear brown masks and have dreadlock-esque hair. Despite their somewhat human appearance, their faces unmasked are very alien and their mouths are gaping maws. They are a race of powerful and technologically advanced alien hunters who hunt down anyone with sufficient combat skills for sport and for bragging rights. Upon gruesomely killing their prey, the Predators take a part of their bodies, often their skull, as a trophy. For the most part, Predators avoid killing anyone who can't defend themselves and don't pose a threat to them. The Predator film franchise is frequently crossed over with the Alien film franchise with the Predators and xenomorphs pitted against each other. Due to their honor code, the Predators are often depicted as somewhat more heroic/less evil than the xenomorphs. In live action films, the Predators are portrayed by tall actors wearing Predator suits. The Predators have been portrayed by Kevin Peter Hall, Ian Whyte, Brian Steele, Derek Mears, and Casey Jones.
