Although he is younger than the protagonist, he looks older due to his rougher tough guy look. He is one of the main characters of Persona 4. He is an infamous local delinquent in Inaba and initially even scares the heroes, but in spite of his hot temper and fierce appearance, he has a deep love of cute things and has inherited his mother's skill at handicrafts. Unfortunately, he was ridiculed in the past for liking such things and in response he created his present fearsome tough guy image. He still like cute things and handicrafts, but he has become much more insecure about his hobbies. Yuu realizes that Kanji is much friendlier than he appears to be, and comes to understand him and helps him accept that it is okay for someone like him to have his particular hobbies. He also becomes attracted to Naoto soon after he meets the young detective. He fights using objects like desks and chairs. His persona is Take-Mikazuchi. He is also notable for his ambiguous sexuality, a question that the game never conclusively answers. Nevertheless, it is clear that he is in love with Naoto. He is voiced by Seki Tomokazu.
