Now Viewing: metal_wolf_chaosTag type: Copyright A mecha action game developed by From_Software and released on the XBOX on December 22, 2004. It was directed by Ogawa Keiichiro with a soundtrack composed by Hoshino Kota and Tsuchiya Shouhei. The art was handled by Miyazaki Masato, Kamiyama Tomoko, and Iwayagano Kouji. US President Michael Wilson finds himself on the run once his Vice President Richard Hawk forcibly takes control of the White House and the armed forces. Hawk uses propaganda to smear Wilson's reputation, take control of America, and turn the army against Wilson. The US President escapes from the White House in the powerful Metal Wolf mech and teams up with his secretary Jodie to stop Hawk's plans and save the United States. As President Wilson, the player battles Hawk's forces throughout various American cities. Environments are highly destructible and the player must defeat all of the enemies, rescue hostages, and achieve as high a score as possible. The Metal Wolf has access to hundreds of weapons, but can only equip eight at a time. Due to a mixture of the game's very over the top tone, the hero Michael Wilson's hotblooded personality and super heroics, and the patriotism shown by the game's characters, the game achieved cult popularity as a very 'American' game in spite of being made by Japanese developers. The game was intended to appeal both Japanese and American audiences and the portrayal of America in this game is meant to be a distillation of the Japanese perception of America. The game's voice acting is also done entirely in English and was intended to be localized for Western audiences upon its debut, but it would not be until August 6, 2019, that the game would be localized and remastered for the Western audience. It was rereleased by Devolver Digital. Michael Wilson also appears in the hack and slash game Ninja Blade.
